The 24 Hour Painting/Comic Dare Marathon has been completed

For more information about the dare see this previous post

I've had a fantastic, fun filled and absolutely exhausting time doing this.
You can see the results of Rita's and my 24 hour experiments by clicking the pictures below.
While you're there and if you have a Facebook profile  you can get news about Rita's and Andy's work by "like"-ing their respective pages - Rita's FB page, Andy's FB page

Rita's "24 Hour Painting Dare" attempt

Andy's "24 Hour Painting Dare" attempt

It's really refreshing to paint in a very, very different way to what I'm used to doing and I think the results are fun and more than a little bit odd. I definitly want to do this again now that I've tried it once. Let em know what you folks think.

BBC4 tonight at 9 - "Ego: The Strange and Wonderful World of Self-Portraits"

On BBC4 tonight at 9 there is a programme about self-portraits

Ego: The Strange and Wonderful World of Self-Portraits

Click this link to go to the page - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00vngl0

*updated - what a wonderful programme, the presenter communicated really well why she thought self portraiture should be treated with higher regard and some of the pieces she shows are amazing (especially sculptures by Franz Xaver Messerschmidt, see the following link for more details http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Xaver_Messerschmidt)

As an aside you can see more of Messerschmidt's work in this video below or click this link

John Berger's series "Ways of Seeing" - First Episode - Reproduction

I recently came across Tom Bergers documentary series "Ways of Seeing" on Youtube. Made in the 1970's it has a resonance that still stands up today. The series was transcribed into a book which should be on everyone's reading list if you're concerned with the arts in any way

The parts in this blog post are all for the 1st episode I will post later episodes later this week
